What the app does

Murmur records and transcribes voice notes entirely on your iPhone. Recording and transcription never leave the device: there is no server, no account and no analytics. Recording, on-device transcription, playback and search are free, with no time limit and no cap on the number of notes.

Murmur Pro adds on-device AI features built on Apple's Foundation Models:

Clean-up: removes filler words and fixes punctuation in a transcript
Summaries of longer notes
Rewrite styles: email, notes or a social post, based on what you said
Automatic title and tags after each recording (included free, no Pro required)

Pro is available two ways: a $14.99 per year auto-renewing subscription, or a $29.99 one-time lifetime purchase. Either one unlocks every AI feature. Neither is required to record or read a transcript.

The AI features need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or later) turned on in Settings. Without it, recording and transcription still work in full; the app shows a plain message instead of the AI actions rather than failing silently.

How to use it

Tap Record on the home screen, allow microphone access, and speak. Tap pause/resume or stop whenever you're done.
Your note appears in the library immediately with an automatic title and tags — no Pro required.
Open a note to see the transcript, play back the audio, or run an AI action (Clean-up, Summary, or a rewrite style) if you have Pro.
Use the search field to filter your notes by title, transcript, or tag text.
A one-tap "Start Recording" Shortcut is available from the Action Button, Lock Screen, or the Shortcuts app.

Frequently asked questions

How do I restore my purchase?

Open any note's AI section, tap an action to reach the paywall, and tap "Restore purchase" at the bottom. This re-checks your entitlement with Apple — useful after reinstalling the app or switching to a new iPhone with the same Apple ID.

Does my audio or transcript ever leave my iPhone?

No. Recording, transcription and every AI feature run on-device. There is no server this app talks to, and no analytics SDK of any kind.

Why don't I see the AI action buttons?

Clean-up, summaries and rewrite styles need Apple Intelligence, available on iPhone 15 Pro or later (or equivalent Apple silicon) with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. If it isn't available, the note detail screen shows a plain "Needs Apple Intelligence…" message instead — recording and transcription are unaffected either way.

What's the difference between the yearly and lifetime purchase?

Both unlock the exact same AI features. The yearly option is $14.99/year, auto-renewing (manage or cancel any time in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions); the lifetime option is a single $29.99 payment with no recurring charge.

Does recording stop if I lock my phone or get a call?

Recording continues in the background if you lock the phone or switch apps. A phone call or other interruption pauses the recording rather than stopping it, so you can resume afterward.

How do I delete a note?

Open the note, tap the "…" menu, then Delete (this asks you to confirm first). You can also swipe left on a note in the library list.
